Nancy Hanson, 78, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital in Prairie Du Sac.
Nancy was born July 9, 1939, in Wisconsin Dells, the daughter of Howard and Rose (Klein) Heitman. Nancy and Sheldon were high school sweethearts and were married for 59 years. Nancy was a loving wife and mother to her husband and five children, as well as a fun-loving grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a co-owner of Pride of America Campground for 27 years. Nancy enjoyed camping and fishing in Eagle River as well as traveling across the United States. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Sheldon; son, Dan (Diana) Hanson of Johnson Creek; daughters, Shelley (Craig) Steingraeber of Pardeeville, Pamela (James) Genrich of Elgin, Illinois, Sally (Daniel) Haberkorn of Pardeeville and Susan (John) Hanson-Marx of Wisconsin Dells; brothers, Norman (Maureen) Heitman of Middleton, Mark (Ellen) Heitman of Mauston and Mike (Dawn) Heitman of Oshkosh; sister, Jean (Kevin) Runde of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Annie, Kevin, Jacob, Andrea, Amanda, Hunter, Amaria, Caden, Liam, Travis and Caelan; and great-grandchildren, Aedan, Rowan, Finley and Rosalyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carolyn Sweeney; and brother, Gary Heitman.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 6, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Eric Sternberg celebrating. Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, at the Picha Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in Wisconsin Dells and again Monday morning, Nov. 6, at the church, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carbone Cancer Center.
