CAMP DOUGLAS — Gregory L. Zawikowski, 66, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, of heart failure.

Greg served in the U.S. Marine Corps with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, from 1963-67, and achieved the rank of sergeant. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a second-generation Marine and his son a third. Greg was raised in Cudahy and moved to Camp Douglas in 1981 with his wife and son and they were former owners of Eagles Nest Resort.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judith A. Johnson; son, Christopher A.; grandson, Brett Michael Zawikowski; sister, Patricia (Peter) Braun of Menomonee Falls; brother-in-law, Richard G. Johnson Jr.; sister-in-law, Lori Johnson of Richfield; cousin, John B. Zawikowski (Ramona) of Oak Creek who was his special “brother”; beloved pool team players; many other relatives; and friends, including his beloved Cairn Terrier, Dugan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Betty.

A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
