JUNEAU - Denis Budde, 72, of Juneau, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at University Hospitals in Madison after a long-term battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau, with the Rev. Paul Hirsch officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the township of Trenton, Wis.

Denis was born the son of Lawrence and Sylvia (Rogers) Budde at their home on Schleif Road in Beaver Dam. He was married to Sheryl Marthaler on May 28, 1993, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau. Denis was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He worked in sales and service being employed with many local canning companies. Denis taught a diesel tech class at Moraine Park in Beaver Dam. He retired from Byron Manufacturing in Watertown. In his retirement, Denis was self-employed; restoring antique tractors.

Denis was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was also a member of the Dodge County Antique Power Club. Denis enjoyed showing and promoting the Quarter Horse breed – accomplishing a 10th ranked quarter horse in the world with the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association). 

Denis is survived by his wife Sheryl Budde of Juneau; his children, Scott (Bonnie) Budde of Beaver Dam, and Pamela (Gregory) Ludowese of Beaver Dam; his grandchildren, Mara and Riley Budde, and Nicholas and Nathan Ludowese all of Beaver Dam; his brothers, Cyril (Estele) Budde of the The Villages, Fla., Gary Budde of Illinois, and Michael Budde of Florida; his sisters, Julia (Earl) Steinhorst of Columbus, Margaret (Charles) Sejud of Tinley Park, Ill., and Agnes (Robert) Allen of Baraboo; his father-in-law William Marthaler of Beaver Dam; sisters-in-law, Susan (Larry) Schute of Beaver Dam, Shelley (Matthew) Braun of Beaver Dam, Stacey (James) Reisetter of Beaver Dam, Sue Budde of Illinois, Mary Budde of Illinois, Jean Budde of Fox Lake, Wis., and Pam Budde of Wisconsin; his brother-in-law Steven (Sherrie) Marthaler of Shiocton, Wis.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Craig Budde; brothers, Lawrence, Jerome, George and Paul, mother-in-law Dorothy Marthaler and sister-in-law Sandi Anderson.
