Lorraine E. Hahn, 96, of Poynette, died peacefully early Saturday morning, Dec. 16, 2017, amid the soft glow of Christmas lights.
Lorraine was born March 15, 1921, the daughter of Alouis and Laura (Schey) Betlach. She attended a one-room grade school, then Marshall High School, graduating in 1938. She married Robert W. Hahn, who lived on a neighboring farm. They lived in Sun Prairie and DeForest before moving to a home on the Wisconsin River in the town of Dekorra in 1954. Lorraine worked at the canning factory in Poynette and the shoe factory in Portage, but most people remember her as a waitress at Hooker’s Resort where her beautiful smile, caring service and joke repertoire kept her in high demand. She loved family and celebrating holidays, baking stollen and poppy seed biscuits, gardening and was particularly adept at arranging fresh cut flowers. She was a member of Dekorra Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending Hope Circle.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Larry (Sharon) Hahn, Gary (Judy) Hahn and Bobbi Jean (Kenneth Erdahl) Hahn; grandchildren, Timothy (Mary Ann) Hahn, Heidi Petersen, Marla (Rick) Knutson, Morgan (fiancé Brad) Erdahl, Robin (Elyse) Erdahl and Rona Erdahl; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1992; sister, Agnes Grimes; and brother, John Betlach.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Dekorra Lutheran Church, N3099 Smith Road, Poynette. A lunch and visitation with the family will follow the service.
Lorraine had a very serving nature with all ages, and especially a connection with children. In lieu of flowers or memorials, please reach out in kindness to someone in memory of her.
