Steven C. Williams, 52, Tomah, formerly of Horicon, passed away at home Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, after a three-year battle following a stroke.

He was born June 20, 1965, to Curtis and Elizabeth (Salzwedel) Williams in Beaver Dam. Steven was united in marriage to Staci Weidler Oct. 3, 1998.

Steven had a passion in life for helping people, which was apparent in his line of work as a police officer for the Horicon Police Department. After 25 years of service, it was his way of giving back to the community. In his spare time, he and his family enjoyed going up to their cabin in Black River Falls. This is where Steve felt at “home” surrounded by nature, and fishing and hunting. He enjoyed time on his motorcycle and watching sports, especially hockey.

Steven was an incredibly loyal and loving husband and father. He will be remembered with that twinkle in his eye and will be extremely missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Staci; children, Cassandra (special friend, Diego Perez) Williams and Braden Williams; his parents, Curtis and Elizabeth; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allen and Marcia Weidler; his siblings, Michael (Barbara) Williams and Amy (Dean) Hopp; and his brother-in-law, Michael (Moriah) Weidler. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his nephew, Ryan Williams.

A funeral service with military honors will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center, Attn: Voluntary Services (135), 500 E. Veterans Street, Tomah, Wisconsin 54660.
