A Janesville hunter's friendly encounter with a young buck has gone viral.

Dan Hartley of Janesville was hunting with others on opening day of the Wisconsin gun deer season on private land in Vernon County when the young deer emerged from the woods.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "The deer had a smaller rack and was younger than Hartley intended to shoot. In an effort to get the deer to move off, Hartley loudly clicked his rifle's safety. The buck jumped. But it didn't run."

Eventually Hartley took out his phone and started filming. The video has received at least 16 million views.
