In Wisconsin, 227,572 people signed up for insurance plans on the Affordable Care Act exchange next year, the federal government said Friday.

That's down 6 percent from the 242,863 who selected plans a year ago, when the enrollment period was twice as long and advertising and assistance was significantly greater.

Nationwide, 8.8 million people signed up for "Obamacare" coverage at healthcare.gov for 2018, down 4 percent from the 9.2 million who selected plans for 2017.
