In Wisconsin, 227,572 people signed up for insurance plans on the Affordable Care Act exchange next year, the federal government said Friday.

That's down 6 percent from the 242,863 who selected plans a year ago, when the enrollment period was twice as long and advertising and assistance was significantly greater.

Nationwide, 8.8 million people signed up for "Obamacare" coverage at for 2018, down 4 percent from the 9.2 million who selected plans for 2017.
