The Beaver Dam City Council has a wheel tax proposal on its agenda at 8 p.m. Dec. 4. If the wheel tax is passed, will the current money in the budget for the roads be deferred for other projects?
Beaver Dam citizens will soon be receiving their Christmas card from the city with the school referendum increase and 4.1 percent increase in the city budget for next year. The city had to borrow $170,000 to finish the 2017 year budget. Is this shortfall going to happen next year or just fill the budget holes with the new wheel tax?
Don’t let 14 alderpersons decide this new tax. New taxes never go away. If you don’t show up and voice your views, don’t complain if the wheel tax gets passed.
