Good news. At the Portage Community School Board meeting on Dec. 11, it was announced that science and social studies are, again, going to be included in the elementary schools' curriculum.
Social studies and the history of Portage are a big part of the curriculum for all elementary schools in the state of Wisconsin. Other schools take field trips to the Indian Agency House, the Surgeons Quarters and also learn how the Fox and the Wisconsin rivers played an important part in history.
The question for the School Board President is: Why were science and social studies ever removed from the elementary curriculum? This is something you need to answer.
It should be noted that Portage schools have many great employees, teachers, support staff and some good administrators. The list goes on, however, some changes need to be made.
