Robert M. Chase
SUN PRAIRIE — Robert M. Chase, 91, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.
He was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Sun Prairie, the son of Fred and Edith (Hecker) Chase. Bob was united in marriage to E. Virginia Crosse on Nov. 30, 1939, in Sun Prairie, and they enjoyed over 63 years of marriage until her death Feb. 26, 2003. Bob was a lifelong resident of Sun Prairie. He was a graduate of Sun Prairie High School and also attended UW-Platteville. Bob was a field man for Oconomowoc Canning Factory and later was an associate/shareholder with his brother Fred in Chase Lumber Company in DeForest and Portage. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Bob enjoyed cards especially Sheepshead and Skat where he was the state Skat tournament champion. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling and was a sports spectator of Badger games and the Packers.
Bob is survived by his son, Thomas (Brenda) Chase of Sun Prairie; daughter Judi Showers of Pardeeville; grandchildren Rebecca Chase, Sarah (Dave) Kammerud, all of Sun Prairie, Michelle Thomas of Boulder Junction and Jerry (Amy) Showers of Pardeeville; great-grandchildren, Arik Eisenhardt, Sydney Barton, Hunter Kammerud, Kiara and Kaleigh Wilger, Austin and Mandi Showers and Brinn Chase; great-great- grandchild, Cayden Eisenhardt; other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, John and Fred; and sisters, Bernadine and Mary.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cress Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, with Msgr. Duane R. Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be held in Sun Prairie City Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the Oak Park Nursing and Rehabilitation, Sun Prairie EMS, Madison EMS, Ryan Brothers Ambulance Service, fourth floor staff of St. Mary's Hospital, St. Mary's ER, the Dean Care doctors in Sun Prairie, his fishing and card playing friends and a special thank you to his granddaughter Becky for taking care of Dad during his illness.
