MAILBAG: Save the Animals Group event was a success
The Central Wisconsin Save the Animals Group recently held an informational public meeting at the library. We'd like to thank everyone who came, especially those people who drove from as far away as Illinois, to hear our guest speakers on the topics of the costs of owning pets, especially the long-term consequences, and what happens when an abuse/neglect call is taken by local law enforcement.
Of course, we must extend a special "thank you" to our guest speakers, Randolph veterinarian Betsy Kennedy-Geurts, Juneau County Deputy and Humane Officer Leigh Neville-Neil, and Columbia County Deputy and Humane Officer Jason Kocovski.
Yes, Columbia County has a humane officer and has had one for two years. Actually, Columbia County has three humane officers. Raise your hand if you knew that. I thought so. Even the lady who answers the phone over there at the sheriff's department didn't know. Interesting, huh? We sort of found out by accident. We think it's important that you know, too, so we're spreading the word.
Our biggest "thank you" is extended to all the people and businesses of Columbia County and the surrounding communities who have generously donated to our organization, and stood by us during these first four years. We very much appreciate your support and we look forward to working with you in the future.
