MAILBAG: Story time at library was a success all year
It's time to say "thank you" to the many children and their families who attended Preschool Story Time at the Portage Public Library all year long.
As part of that thank-you, we once again held our end-of-the-year "Spring Fever" party, which brought together more than 100 children and their families to celebrate a year of story time fun and the coming of spring.
This year, children at our party had the opportunity to learn about the importance of good posture and exercise from Jessica Shipley, chiropractic assistant at Blau Family Chiropractic. Children then planted beautiful pansies in take-home pots, courtesy of Edgewater Greenhouse and Carole LaVigne. Stories, songs and crafts rounded out the busy morning.
And what's a party without treats? Our year-end party concluded with homemade cookies courtesy of Friends of the Library members Nancy Shaper, Kay Jenkins, Betty Harkins and Pat Banks.
On a personal note, I'd like to thank all the parents, grandparents and caregivers who brought their children to preschool story time all year. It was an amazing year, and I consider it a privilege to be able to spend time with your preschooler. Thank you for making the year so memorable.
