MAILBAG: Emily Miller's story worth telling
Today, on the front page of the Portage Daily Register, I read the story of Emily Miller, a 9-year-old girl who is battling the third cancer that has attacked her little body.
My first thoughts, of course, were for Emily and her family, and I would like to extend my best wishes and prayers to them.
Secondly, I thought, "How wonderful of the Register to place this little girl's plight for a bone marrow donor on the front page of the paper." There are so many newsworthy stories out there, but this is a headline that warrants a lot of attention.
It came as no surprise to me that the reporter was Jen McCoy. Jen, thank you for always taking the time to bring human interest to the paper and doing so with dignity and professionalism. I pray that Emily finds a donor, and I am so thankful that she found you to bring her story to the front page.
