BASEBALL: Pardeeville, Westfield lose on Friday

DEERFIELD 13, PARDEEVILLE 4

The Pardeeville baseball team hit the wall on Friday night, as Bulldog pitchers walked 14 batters and gave up seven runs in the key fifth inning on the way to a 13-4 loss to host Deerfield.

"In NASCAR they talk about the big crash. In Pardeeville baseball, it's the big inning," Pardeeville head coach Bill Hebl said. "We really fell apart."

Pardeeville actually out-hit Deerfield 5-4, but the 14 walks paired with three Bulldog errors proved to be too much for the visitors to overcome.

Pardeeville will hit the road to play a non-conference doubleheader today against Wisconsin Dells. Pardeeville will also get another crack at Deerfield, this time at home, on Tuesday, before opening WIAA tournament play on Friday at home against Waterloo.
