BASEBALL: Streak ends for Pardeeville
Montello, Cambria-Friesland lose on Monday
Pardeeville's five-game winning streak came to an end on Monday afternoon with a 2-1 loss to Hustisford-Dodgeland.
Pardeeville tied the game up at 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning when Zach Weihert came home on a squeeze bunt by Jonce Tolley.
Hustisford-Dodgeland was able to get the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Shane Hackbarth doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Weihert went 3-for-3 to lead Pardeeville on offense. The Pardeeville freshman upped his batting average to .909 in conference games this season.
Tanner Westbury took the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs, but deserved better. The Pardeeville junior gave up just four hits and retired the side in order in the second, third and fifth innings. Fifty-nine of the 86 pitches he threw were strikes.
"This is the best game he's pitched in high school," Pardeeville head coach Bill Hebl said.
"This is what we've been building for with our preseason and our first conference games. This is one of the better teams in the conference. We played very well," added Hebl.
