BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Fifth inning does in Bulldogs

After a four-run second inning, Pardeeville appeared to be well on its way to a huge Southern Trailways Conference victory over Johnson Creek on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs were holding onto a 4-2 lead, then came the bottom of the fifth, where the Johnson Creek bats heated up to the tune of 11 runs in the inning to give the Blue Jays a commanding lead on their way to a 15-5 victory over the Bulldogs.

"We played well again for four innings. We had a 4-0 lead, and in the fifth, the roof caved in. The wheels fell off the cart and they just started hitting the ball. They're a good hitting team," said Pardeeville head coach Bill Hebl after the game.

The loss for Pardeeville is its second straight after a five-game winning streak earlier in the season. The Bulldogs move to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Southern Trailways.

After the game, Hebl was already looking forward to a rematch with Johnson Creek.

"They're a good team, but I think we can play with them," Hebl said of the Blue Jays, who are currently ranked fourth in the latest Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Division 4 Poll. "I think when we get them up (in Pardeeville), I think we will be a little more competitive. I think we lost our composure."
