BASEBALL: Monday's games

PARDEEVILLE 10, FALL RIVER 5

Kyle Vertz's RBI double in the top of the sixth inning broke a tie ball game and sparked a five-run frame for Pardeeville as the Bulldogs went on to beat host Fall River, 10-5 on Monday afternoon.

Freshman Zach Weihert pitched the third straight complete game by the Pardeeville pitching staff, striking out seven and giving up nine hits to get the win for the Bulldogs.

Weihert also continued his strong season at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two walks. Weihert is now 17-for-23 in conference games this season, good for a .739 batting average.

Five of Pardeeville's 10 hits in the contest went for doubles. Fall River also connected for three extra-base hits, including a home run by freshman Ryan Dauman.

Pardeeville moves to 5-2 in the Southern Trailways Conference and 8-3 overall with the victory. The Bulldogs will play host to Princeton on Wednesday, followed up by another home game on Thursday against Hustisford-Dodgeland and a contest at Rio on Friday.

A 10-run fifth inning was the undoing for Rio's baseball team Monday as host Hustisford-Dodgeland used the rally to hand the Vikings a 13-5 loss.

WISCONSIN HEIGHTS 11, POYNETTE 0

Poynette made eight errors and fell to Wisconsin Heights 11-0 in six innings on Monday in Poynette.

Poynette coach Davy Tomlinson said his team needs improve on defense if it is going to end it's 10-game losing streak.

"We're still giving away too many opportunities. Errors are just a killer," Tomlinson said. "I think John (Koch) pitched very well. We walked a couple. He should have been out of many of the innings that they scored a bunch in. We gave them a couple of five- and six-out innings and that's never good."

Koch struck out three through five innings of work and took the loss for the Indians.

MONTELLO 9, RANDOLPH 8

Montello scored five runs in the fifth inning on its way to a 9-8 victory over host Randolph on Monday.

Jake Polk struckout three and got the complete-game victory for the Hilltoppers.

Montello's offense was led by Sam Lloyd, who was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Justan Galloway drew four walks and had four stolen bases in the the game for Montello.

Franco Galvan led the way for Randolph. He was 3-for-4 with three dobules and two RBI. Galvan also pitched the entire game for the Rockets, striking out four.
