The Columbia County Annex, 120 W. Conant St., is being torn down to make way for a 71-space public parking lot. The underground parking structure, just east of the Annex, owned by the city of Portage, will be filled in, and the entire area will be paved as part of a joint project by the city and Columbia County. The Annex, which used to be a grocery store, had been the site of several county offices until recently, when those offices were relocated to the new Administration Building, 112 E. Edgewater St.
