One woman was killed and several others injured when a semi-truck struck a van pulling a camper on Highway 73 in the town of Randolph Friday afternoon.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office released the name of a woman who died after a semi-truck crashed into a van north of Randolph Friday.

Christine Novak, 40, Lake Geneva, died Saturday from injuries suffered in the collision at the intersection of County Highway E and State Highway 73.

Novak was driving a Nissan van, pulling a camper, with seven juvenile family members north on Highway 73 Friday afternoon when at around 2 p.m. the vehicle was struck by a semi driven by a 39-year-old Mississippi man.

Patrick Craft, of Collins, Mississippi, who was eastbound on Highway E, is suspected of driving through a stop sign before hitting the van.

When first responders arrived on the scene, Novak and Craft each had to be freed from their vehicles. Novak and one of the seven minors in the van were taken from the scene by helicopter.

Three of the other passengers were taken to a hospital by ambulance. Craft was also injured in the crash.

Both highways were closed following the crash, which remains under investigation.
