PORTAGE - May Gladys Best, 86, of Portage died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Heritage House in Portage.
She was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Portage, to Otto and Helena Moll Kuhn. May worked at Badger Ordnance and then at AMPI for 16 years before retiring. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers and going to the farm.
Survivors include three children, Raymond Wiser of Dalton, Kathy Culver of Baraboo and Randall (Myra) Best of Portage; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Dean) Miller, Josh (Carla) Best and Nicole Best; two great-grandchildren, Kalli Best and Danica Miller; dearest niece, Debbie Ann Becker; great and dear friends, Verona Gray and Tim Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Portage, with the Rev. Dan Kelm officiating. Burial will follow in Marcellon Cemetery, rural Pardeeville. Friends may call from 9 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Home Health United Hospice. Special thanks to Pastors Boeck, Kelm, Anacker and Anderson, all the fine help at Home Health United Hospice and the staff at Heritage House.
