RIO - Charles W. Schultz, 75, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Columbia County Health Care Center in Wyocena.
Charlie was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Poynette, the son of Hobart and Ruth Graack Schultz. Charles was united in marriage to Sally Lou Rose at Poynette United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death Sept. 16, 2001. Charlie served the community through his business, Schultz Garage in Sun Prairie, from 1964 to 2007. He was owner and operator and was known as a machinist and welder. Charlie's hobbies included fishing, hunting and trap-shooting. He also enjoyed crop farming and in his early years cattle on the farm. Charles will most be remembered for his contributions to the flying clubs. He was a member of the RC Madison, Lodi, Beaver Dam and Verona clubs.
Survivors include his son, Stuart James Schultz of Rio; sister, Caroline (William) Bell of Arlington; sister-in-law, Jean (Richard) Hadden of Janesville and their two daughters, Diane and Suzanne (their husbands and their children); other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally; and Dorothy Schultz at age 3.
At his request, private family services will be held at Smith Vangen Funeral Home in Rio, and burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Poynette.
