The Portage Summer Lunch Program Committee thanks our individual and community partners who assisted in making it possible to serve over 5,700 meals to Portage youth this summer.

The Portage Area United Way, Salvation Army, Pierce’s Market, AMPI and many individuals donated funds to support meal transportation, staff for the library site and supplies for the parent lunch station. Portage Pizza Ranch donated pizza. The Wisconsin Dells School District and Northwoods Inc. of Wisconsin provided the other meals through USDA funding served from June 5 through Sept. 1.

The city of Portage provided the space at city parks and the Portage Public Library for lunch service sites. The Portage Public Library provided setup and staff to support the program. The Department of Public Instruction provided support. Meal site volunteers made a difference every day.

The UW-Extension Master Gardeners and Extension staff provided educational sessions at the Library location. Volunteers prepared and hung door hangers to advertise the program and help get the word out at the beginning of the summer.

Thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of young people in the Portage community this summer.

Pastor Dave Hankins, Dawn Foster and Karen Nelson, Portage
