The Columbia County Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign concluded another successful season, with over $31,000 received.
Those donations will stay in this area and help families and individuals in need. The money deposited in the Red Kettles are necessary to help the Salvation Army succeed in its mission of helping the needy, but just as necessary are the many volunteers who willingly give of their time to ring the bells for Salvation Army. This year in Portage, Poynette, Pardeeville and Lodi, we had approximately 380 hours of volunteer time. If you volunteered to bell ring this season, thank you.
We are very appreciative of the stores that welcomed bell ringers: Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Festival in Portage, and Piggly Wiggly in Poynette, Pardeeville and Lodi. We also had small kettles on countertops at several local stores. The support of all these businesses is crucial to the success of the Red Kettle Drive. Another important partner is Summit Credit Union, whose staff counted and banked the donations.
Thanks to all who supported the Red Kettle Drive this year.
