The Portage Middle School wrestling team continued its strong stretch at this past Saturday.

The Warriors crowned seven champions and had nine second place finishers at the Todd Jewel Memorial Tournament in Richland Center.

Leading the way for Portage was the duo of Jordan Starr and Chase Beckett. Starr recorded three pins to win the 77-85 pound age group while Beckett followed suit with a trio of pins en route to winning the 76-82 pound group.

Along with Starr and Beckett, Jeffery Jones and Mitchell Butson each had two pins in winning the 97-104 and 114-121 pound groups. Hayden Steinle (255-271), Emerson Pease (79-84) and David Williams (88-94) also won their weight groups, each earning one pin fall victory in doing so.

Coupled with the first place finishers, Lowell Arnold, Ethan Bleich, Jarred Starr, Ryan Maier, Oz Gayton, Dayton Tessmer, Christian Erickson, Luke Paulsen and Vincent Desaularis each finished second. The Warriors racked up a tournament-high 22 pins as a team and Butson won his weight group for the second-straight year.
