Two Rock Springs area children were injured when they were attempting to get into a pickup truck that accidentally rolled backward Monday afternoon.
According to a press release issued by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, two children were getting into a pickup truck when the truck began to roll backward down a steep driveway. The pickup had been knocked out of gear, causing it to roll, throwing both children out of the truck and injuring them.
One child was taken to the Reedsburg Area Medical Center by Reedsburg Ambulance Service and the other was taken by MedFlight to University Children’s Hospital in Madison, both with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The incident happened on private property in the town of Excelsior about 4:20 p.m.
The pickup truck was damaged as it rolled through a fence and across the road into a ditch.
The incident has been ruled an accident, and there was no further investigation.
