Strong measures proposed for school budget

REEDSBURG — The Reedsburg School District Finance Committee is already talking about a referendum or closing schools for the 2010-11 school year.

According to Business Manager Pat Ruddy, they need to start the discussion in October if they want to successfully perform either measure by the start of next school year.

"The revenue isn't growing fast enough to cover expenditures," Ruddy told the committee Thursday night.

Ruddy explained the current situation with as much brevity as possible — state aid cuts, a shrinking three-year student enrollment and previous budget cuts.
