Union wants more

REEDSBURG — In the midst of all the cuts the Reedsburg School Board has approved in the last year, possibly the least talked about one involves a pay freeze for approximately 73 full- and part-time district teaching assistants.

Unfortunately for those teaching assistants, it's a pay freeze they never wanted to take.

Just like area teachers have their union, teaching assistants have theirs — Reedsburg Educational Paraprofessional Association (REPA). REPA members have been negotiating a contract, unsuccessfully so far, with the board since the last contract expired July 1, 2008.
