Ethel M. Gray, 88, Published May 14, 2008

Ethel M. Gray, 88 of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living Center in Reedsburg. She was born on Nov. 25, 1919, in LaFarge, the daughter of John and Ardella "May" (Stone) Lawrence. On May 26, 1940, Ethel was united in marriage to Omer U. Gray in Viroqua. She was a farmer/homemaker until her children left home. She then worked for the Reedsburg School District as a janitor until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, raising animals, working at the Thrift Shop, helping others and occasionally coon hunting with Omer.

She is survived by her children, William and Mabel Gray of Yuma, Ariz., Earl Gray of LaValle, Joe and Linda Gray of Reedsburg, Mae Gray of Clinton, Tenn., Dan and Denise Gray of Cataract; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Omer; son, Jerry; brothers, Ernest, Branson, Ray, George, Leslie, Lee and Carson; sisters, Amy Novy, Oda Smith and Eda.

Funeral services for Ethel Mae Gray were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaValle. Friends called on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Farber Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to Home Health United.
