Ewald W. Beth, 92, Published Oct. 4, 2008

Ewald W. Beth, 92 of Reedsburg, died on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, in the Sauk County Health Care Center. He was born on June 21, 1916, in the Town of Excelsior, Sauk County, the son of Carl M. and Meta (Holtz) Beth. Ewald was a 1933 graduate of Reedsburg High School where he played on the football and baseball teams. On Aug. 17, 1940, he was united in marriage to the former Leola J. Meske. He was a lifelong area farmer. Ewald was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom. He enjoyed visits with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his five children, Errol (Anne) Beth of Reedsburg, June (John) Horkan of Lyndon Station, Gene (Karen) Beth of Rock Springs, John (Randine) Beth of Reedsburg and Gail Beth of Cazenovia; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, Carl E. Beth of Reedsburg; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Holtz of Eden, N.C. and Sharon (Glen) Reinfeldt of Rock Springs; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola, on July 11, 2007, and his sister Hilda Harrison.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Rock Springs. There was a visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
