Ronald E. Grosskrueger, 78, Published Oct. 4, 2008
Ronald E. Grosskrueger, 78 of Reedsburg, died on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in the Sauk County Health Care Center. He was born on Nov. 14, 1929, in Reedsburg, the son of Edward and Alvina (Dargel) Grosskrueger. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On Aug. 6, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Verle K. Arzt. Ron farmed in the Town of Reedsburg and he was manager of the Reedsburg Westfield Insurance Company. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in LaValle, Ducks Unlimited and the Reedsburg V.F.W. Post 1916. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting antique guns.
Survivors include his three children, Nancy Grosskrueger of Maplewood, Minn., Beverly (James) Berry of Kadoka, S.D. and Paul (Kathryn) Grosskrueger of Reedsburg; two grandsons, Warren and Foster Berry; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verle, on May 7, 2001; his parents and one sister, Gwen Ploetz.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in LaValle with Dr. Harald Tomesch officiating. Interment will be in the Cole Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Reedsburg V.F.W Post 1916. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers memorials to Ducks Unlimited or the Sauk County Health Care Center would be appreciated.
