Mary M. Coleman, 70 of Fitchburg, died Aug. 16, 2009. She was born on Feb. 2, 1939, in Reedsburg, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Casey) Coleman. She grew up on a farm near Reedsburg and graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1957. Mary began work at the Bell Telephone Co. in Baraboo in 1958, retiring from AT&T in 1998. She started and finished her career as a long-distance operator. She lived a quiet kind of life, enjoying her work and the friends she made there. One interesting thing about Mary was that she got her drivers license and purchased a car after her retirement.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Edward King.
She is survived by her sister, Veronica King of Madison; nephew, Steven King of Madison; many cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mary Coleman will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
