Armond Harold Hamburg, 74 of LaValle, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hillsboro. He was born in Wonewoc July 11, 1935, son of Harold and Emeline (Mihlbauer) Hamburg. He graduated from Wonewoc High School in the class of 1953. On April 27, 1957, he married Ruth McWilliams at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wonewoc.

He proudly served his country in the Army; stationed in Germany, and special activation for the Berlin crisis. Most of his life he and Ruth farmed near Wonewoc and LaValle. For a time Armond was also employed at Ray-O-Vac in Wonewoc.  

Armond was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lime Ridge where he served on the church council. In his younger years, he enjoyed coon and deer hunting, playing cards and attending high school football games. He enjoyed horses and was a member of the Willow Valley Saddle Club where he enjoyed announcing at the horse shows. His favorite pastime was visiting with friends and neighbors.

Armond is survived by his wife, Ruth; three children, Kay Swenson (friend Melvin Gaetzke), Ivy (Russ) Hoege and Tad; four grandchildren, Lantz Douglas, Kevin Swenson, Cole Hamburg and Austin Smith. He is further survived by a brother, Orland (Lynda) Hamburg; brothers-in-law, Robert (Delores) McWilliams and Richard (Sandra) McWilliams; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ray in 1997, and a brother Darold "Buck" in 2008.

Funeral services for Armond H. Hamburg will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wonewoc, with Pastor Richard Agenten officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Wonewoc.

Friends may call today, Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home, Wonewoc, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to the family, Trinity Lutheran Church in Lime Ridge, UW Comprehensive Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
