Reinhard Henry Harms, 91, Published October 21, 2009
Reinhard Henry Harms, 91 of Reedsburg, died on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. He was born on May 12, 1918, in the township of Washington, Sauk County, the son of Henry A. and Amanda (Peters) Harms. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force having served in the European Theatre for two years. After returning home he married Irene L. Kuhnau on July 7, 1946, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Freedom. He owned and operated the Harms Cabinet Millworks until he turned it over to his sons when he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward Harms, Henry Harms; sister, Caroline Robson; and a son-in-law, Peter Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Irene of Reedsburg; his children, Linda Taylor of Reedsburg, Richard (Darlene) Harms of Cross Plains, Lora (Ted Pittman) Harms of Madison, Robert (Michelle) Harms of Reedsburg, Russell (Elvia) Harms of Brentwood, Tenn. and Ronald (Deb Nachtigal) Harms of Reedsburg; four grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, Nathan and Janell; his brothers and sisters, Ruth Tietje of Loganville, Armand (Donna) Harms of Rock Springs and Raymond (Ione) Harms of Reedsburg; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at 1 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reedsburg, with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Burial will be made in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Loganville, with military graveside rites being conducted by the VFW Post 1916 of Reedsburg. Visitation was on Tuesday at the Farber Funeral Home and again today from noon until the time of service.
