Douglas R. Schluter, 59, Published October 21, 2009
Douglas R. Schluter, 59 of Cazenovia, died on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at his family home following an extended illness. He was born on May 29, 1950, in Reedsburg, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Bodendein) Schluter. Doug owned and operated Doug's Pub in Cazenovia for over 15 years and was the village mayor for 16 years. He was very active in the Cazenovia softball program. He worked for Gasser Construction as a civil engineer, and he enjoyed his career very much.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Richard, and a grand niece.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy of LaValle; his brothers, Larry (Diana) Schluter of Hubertus, Dennis (Mary) Schluter of Sun Prairie and Ron (Deb) Schluter of New Glarus; nieces and nephews, Chris (Andrea) Schluter, Jennifer (Erich) Utrie, Courtney (Scott) Straka, Jason (Kathy) Schluter, Nicole, Stephanie, Jessica, Kaitlin and Bethany Schluter; eight grand nieces and nephews along with other relatives and many great friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lime Ridge, with Fr. Lorin Bowens officiating. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Lime Ridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cazenovia Chapel in Cazenovia with a scripture service prayed at 7:30 p.m.
