Adelmer A. Knuth, 86, Published October 31, 2009
Adelmer A. Knuth, 86 of Reedsburg, died on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, in the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 15, 1923, in the Town of Honey Creek, Sauk County, the son of Albert and Emma (Kruse) Knuth. Adelmer was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. On May 4, 1949, he was married to the former Emma M. Meyer. Adelmer was a dairy farmer in the Town of Westfield for many years. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Stone Church and a former member of the church council. He also had served on the Town of Westfield Board, the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, Foremost Farms Board of Directors and numerous other boards. He was also a member of the Reedsburg American Legion and the Reedsburg VFW. Adelmer enjoyed playing cards in his spare time.
Survivors include three children: Richard (Sandi) Knuth of Reedsburg; Durlin (Karen) Knuth of Loganville and Brenda (Michael) Kozlowski of Reedsburg; his daughter-in-law, Mary Knuth of Verona; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Nicole, Brian, Jason, Christopher, Jeffrey and Julie; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan (Eleanore) Knuth of Sullivan and Raydean (LaVonne) Knuth of Prairie du Sac; a sister-in-law, Jean Knuth of Prairie du Sac; a brother-in-law, Norbert Paulus of Spring Green; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, on May 12, 1996; his son, Gerry Knuth in June 2000; one sister, Evelyn Schuette; and two brothers, Wilmer and Leon Knuth.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Stone Church, rural Rock Springs, with Pastor Peter Heide officiating. Interment with military rites will be in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
