Beaver CC teams in fine form

The RAHS girls cross country team placed three runners in the top five as they ran away from the competition at the Beaver Dam Invitational Saturday.

Led by Brea Goodman, Dakota Goodman and Katelynn Diske, the Beavers took top honors with 44 team points to edge Green Bay Notre Dame Academy (52 points).

Senior Brea Goodman won the girls race with a time of 14:56.39, edging Sun Prairie sophomore Liz Burkholtz by a little over four seconds.

Dakota Goodman placed third (15:54) and Diske rounded out the Beaver top-five finishers as she placed fifth at 16:04.57. Senior Rachel Hasler placed 15th (16:27.31) and Arissa Michel was the sixth RAHS runner to finish in the top 20 as the freshman turned in a 16:43.51, good enough for 20th place.

Beth Burris was named the Reedsburg girls athlete of the meet, Burris, nursing a sprained ankle continues to improve through the season as the sophomore ran a 22:34.14 in the junior varsity meet.

The Beaver boys finished fifth in the boys race. Led by Mikey Turner's sixth place effort RAHS scored 147 team points. Turner's time of 17:02.56 was just 19 seconds off the winning time of 16:43 by Sun Prairie senior Spencer Houk. Ethan Dempsey placed 14th (17:34.83) and Derrick Kinsman was 33rd (18:41.52).

Freshman Ben Turner was named the boys athlete of the meet, running his fastest time of the year (21:07).

Up next for Reedsburg will be the Wisconsin Dells Invite Saturday. The Beavers were slated to run at the Black River Falls invite Tuesday.
