Webber, Lukes move to tennis sectionals

The Reedsburg #1 doubles team of Deanne Webber and Lauren Lukes beat Anna Medinger and Megan Smith of Holmen 6-4, 7-6 (2) to advance to the sectional tournament at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium today.

The Beavers, as a team, placed seventh in the subsectional which was held at the Saint Mary's University tennis Center in Winona, Minnesota Monday.  

The Onalaska and Logan high school girls tennis teams, which both compiled 20 points, will send three singles players and two doubles teams to Wednesday's sectional tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

Onalaska freshman Maddie Johnson (23-0) showed no signs of slowing down as she defeated Lydia Greve of Baraboo 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play. Logan's Kristi Kroker (20-4), Holmen's Rachel Cantlon (15-6) and Central's Eva Rieder (8-11) also advanced at No. 1.

Logan's Lindsay Hoefert (17-2) and Emily Worden (16-1) advanced at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Onalaska's Kelly Waltz (15-2) and Alyssa Harring (6-1) advanced at No. 3 and No.4 singles, respectively.

Onalaska's No. 1 doubles team of Gretchen Waltz and Laura May will take a 22-1 record into sectional play. Logan's Cassanda Sundaram and Lizzy Kroker (13-5) and Kimmeata Davis and Haley Harnden (11-6) advanced at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Onalaska's No. 3 doubles team of Christen Geyer and Misha Subhani (17-7) also advanced.
