The Sauk Prairie girls basketball team dug itself too big of a hole on Dec. 21.

The host Eagles couldn't overcome a 39-27 halftime deficit and suffered a 64-59 Badger North Conference loss to DeForest at Sauk Prairie High School.

DeForest (3-7, 2-4 Badger North) took control thanks to a 13-point first half from Aleah Grundahl. The junior was limited in the second half, finishing with a game-high 16 points. Grace Roth added 13 points for the Norskies, while Hannah Trautsch had 10 points.

Camryn Ballweg paced Sauk Prairie (5-6, 2-4) with 12 points. Taylor Breininger chipped in 11 points, Hannah Schneider scored 10 points, and Olivia Breunig and Riley Breunig each scored eight points.

Losers of three of their last four games, the Eagles will get time to reset before visiting Portage for a Badger North game on Friday, Jan. 5.
