DeForest 95, Sauk Prairie 75
The Sauk Prairie girls swim team swam at home for the final time this year when the Eagles hosted DeForest in a Badger North Conference dual on Oct. 10.
The Eagles were edged out by the Norskies on Senior Night, winning two events and suffering a 95-75 loss.
Senior Sydney Rall won Sauk Prairie’s lone individual event, using a time of 1 minute, 2.80 seconds to win the 100-yard backstroke. Emma Breunig (1:09.51) and Summer Acker (1:10.68) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the event.
Sauk Prairie won one of the three relays, as Rall, Giulia Brickl, Grace Williams and Kaitlyn Miller touched the wall in 1:56.19 to win the 200-yard medley relay.
Rall added a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (:57.43), while Abbey McCumber (1:03.32) and Alexa Lins (1:06.85) followed in fifth and sixth place.
Giulia Brickl (1:14.20), Alexa Judd (1:21.17) and Ashley Brickl (1:24.21) took second through fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke. Mariah Chao (2:07.54) and Cora Dunnum (2:18.01) placed second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle. Williams used a time of 1:30.90 to take second in the 100-yard butterfly, while Grace Orr (1:07.25) took fourth and Ally Dunnum (1:09.67) finished fifth.
Ally Dunnum (2:26.61), Giulia Brickl (2:30.74) and Williams (2:32.84) took third through fifth in the 200-yard individual medley, while Miller (:26.82), Chao (:27.00) and Judd (:27.30) were third through fifth in the 50-yard freestyle. In the 500-yard freestyle, Miller (5:54.15) placed third, Acker (6:03.77) took fourth and Cora Dunnum (6:10.62) finished sixth.

Sauk Prairie put together a solid all-around showing to place second out of 10 teams at the Blackhawk Invitational in Fort Atkinson on Oct. 14.
The Eagles compiled a team score of 336 to finish as the runner-up to DeForest (388). Consistency did the trick for the Eagles, as every Sauk Prairie swimmer finished in the top 16 of their respective events.
“It was truly a great team effort by all who swam,” Sauk Prairie coach Julie Goodman said.
Rall was Sauk Prairie’s lone event champion on Saturday, touching the wall in 1:02.10 to win the 100-yard backstroke. Rall also took sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (:57.68).
The quartet of Rall, Giulia Brickl, Williams and Miller used a time of 1:57.38 to take third in the 200-yard medley relay. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Williams, Judd, Cora Dunnum and Chao took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:45.73), while Chao, Miller, Cora Dunnum and Rall took fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:56.90).
Chao medaled in a pair of individual events, taking fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (:56.68) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (:26.14). Giulia Brickl added a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.56), while Ally Dunnum took sixth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.76).
Other top-10 finishes for the Eagles were Williams in the 100-yard butterfly (7th, 1:05.47) and the 50-yard freestyle (8th, :26.36); Cora Dunnum in the 200-yard freestyle (7th, 2:12.60); Emma Breunig in the 100-yard backstroke (8th, 1:07.82); Miller in the 500-yard freestyle (9th, 5:48.68); Acker, Ally Dunnum, Orr and Breunig in the 200-yard medley relay (9th, 2:05.65); Ally Dunnum in the 100-yard butterfly (10th, 1:07.61); and McCumber, Breunig, Ashley Brickl and Giulia Brickl in the 200-yard freestyle relay (10th, 1:52.53).
The Eagles will wrap up their dual season at Waunakee on Tuesday before competing in an invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday. The Badger North Conference meet will be held at Jack Young Middle School in Baraboo on Friday, Oct. 27.

Fort Atkinson 3, Sauk Prairie 0
Sauk Prairie capped off the regular season with a trip to Fort Atkinson on Oct. 12.
The Eagles struggled to get going against the Blackhawks, as Fort Atkinson handed Sauk Prairie a 25-13, 25-16, 25-21 non-conference loss.
Sauk Prairie earned a No. 5 seed in the WIAA Division 2 playoffs and opened regional play at fourth-seeded River Valley on Tuesday. The winner will advance to take on top-seeded Mount Horeb in the regional semifinals on Thursday.
Sauk Prairie didn’t meet River Valley during the regular season, while the Eagles suffered a 25-18, 22-25, 25-11, 25-19 home loss to Mount Horeb on Oct. 5.
