Richard J. Newman, 84, of Prairie du Sac, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie.
He was born in Watertown, on June 29, 1933, to the late Fred and Bernadette (Hady) Newman. He was a United States veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War. Rich later moved to Mineral Point, where he met his wife Norma Arndt. Together they raised five children, Mike (Nancy), Mace, Steve (Dona), Thane (Lisa) and Lynn (Michael) Jackson.
Rich leaves behind his wife of 61 years; three sons; one daughter; his brother Ron (friend Fran); two sisters-in-law, Margaret Roberts, Marilyn (Steve) Eveland; 11 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mace; mother and father-in-law Peter and Margaret Arndt; a sister-in-law, Sandy Newman; two brothers-in-law, Roger (Red) Griffiths, and Jake Roberts.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac, with pastor Sally Williams officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
