Witwen concerts kick off July 11

The Witwen Concerts at the Campground committee is gearing up for another season starting July 11 at the campground.

These free concerts will start a 6:30 p.m. and the picnic area will open at 4 p.m. Concert-goers can bring blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic supper or purchase food from the foodstand. In the event of rain, the concerts will be in the tabernacle on the grounds.

According to a press release submitted by the concert committee, the schedule is as follows:

n July 11: The Dang-its - An Americana, honky tonk and western swing band

n July 25: Harmonious Wail Gypsy

n Aug. 1: New Horizons Swing Band - Madison Chapter

n Aug. 8: Madison Brass Band - A traditional British-style brass band

n Aug. 22: Larry Busch Big Band

According to the press release, the concerts are free although contributions are welcomed. There is different levels of recognition such as: Explorer, $25 to $99; surveyor, $100 to $249; settler, $250 to $499 and homesteader, $500 or more.

To donate send checks to: Witwen Concerts at the Campgrounds, Attn: Beverly Otis, treasurer, P.O. Box 173, Sauk City, WI 53583. All contributions will be acknowledged in weekly programs and a full-page insert in local papers prior to first concert.

The Witwen park and campground is seven miles west of Sauk City on County Highway E.
