Community Events
Now to July 18
• The "Small Town Midwest" exhibit is on display now to July 18 at the River Arts Center in Prairie du Sac. The exhibit is made up of black and white and color photographs that feature images associated with small towns in the Midwest.
Now to October
• A new exhibit of rocking chairs of all eras is at the Tripp Memorial Museum, 565 Water St. in Prairie du Sac now to October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Local residents shared their family rocking chairs with the history involved in each piece.
July 3
• Merrimac's annual fireworks display is at dusk July 3 on Bluff Road just outside of Merrimac.
July 4
• The Witwen Fourth of July parade will be at 10:30 a.m. July 4 in Witwen. A barbeque chicken dinner will be served at the Witwen Campground following the parade. There will be games for all ages to participate at 2 p.m. Witwen is 10 miles west of Sauk City and 10 miles east of Plain on County Highway E.
• The annual Fire on the River fireworks show is at dusk on July 4 in Veterans Memorial Park in Prairie du Sac. The cost is $1. Food and beverages will be available in the park from vendors. No carry-ins are allowed. Parking in the park is limited to cars displaying handicap placards/license plates and VIP's who are sponsoring the event. July 6 to 12
• The Sauk County Fair will be in full swing July 6 to 12 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo. For a full listing of events visit www.saukcountyfair.com.
July 7
• The Iron Horse Band will perform at the free Sauk Prairie Riverway Concerts in the Park from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 7 at the August Derleth Park in Sauk City. Non-profit vendors will be selling food and beverage items.
• The Sauk City Public Library is sponsoring a series of special entertainment. The first program will feature singer Gloria Hays from 1 to 2 p.m. July 7 at the library in its lower level. The program features hammer and mountain dulcimers, guitar, and drums. For more information, call 643-8346.
• The Rotary Club of Sauk Prairie will host a picnic at 5:30 p.m. July 7 at Ron and Margo Zeman's, 7806 Inama Road in Sauk City. The club will install new officers, and say farewell to Katie Ladsten who is going to Mexico and Julia Hasheider who is traveling to Belgium. The group will say farewell to Tua Abhisit Jiranaphawiboon who returns to Thailand on July 25. Food and beverages will be provided.
• Lucy's Cafe in Lodi is donating 10 percent of its sales on July 7 to the Crystal Lake Emergency Fund. The cafe is at 610 Corner St. in Lodi.
July 10 and 11
• Ancient Healing in Sauk City is hosting "Dreams: Messages from Your Subconscious" seminars July 10 and 11, The cost is $50. Guest speaker is spiritual intuitive Mary Lemons. At the July seminar attendees will create dream catchers, a dream journal and other ways to record dreams. For more information or to register, call 644-9473.
July 11
• The Sauk County Market Animal Sale Committee invites agricultural supporters and local businesses to attend the 2009 Sauk County market animal sale at 1 p.m. July 11 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo. There will be a buyer's luncheon prior to the sale at 11:30 a.m. For more information about the sale, call Sandy Miskowiak-Larsen at (608) 355-3553.
July 14
• A free "Buying A Home ... What You Need To Know" seminar is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 14 at the Community Business Bank in Sauk City. Attendees will learn information on the first time home buyer credit and the steps to become pre-qualified for a home purchase. July 2
• UW-Baraboo/Sauk County Campus Community Band will perform at 7 p.m. July 2 at the Concerts on the Square in downtown Baraboo. In case of rain the concerts will be performed in the R.G. Brown Theatre or Lang Gymnasium at UW-Baraboo.
July 4
• Art on the Farm will highlight the work of 40 art exhibitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 4 at Doc and Pam Hines' farm, W8632 County Road I in Oxford. A silent auction of art works donated by the participating artists will benefit the St. Clare Hospice House resident fund. The St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo is a residential facility where Home Health United staff provide physical, emotional and spiritual care for hospice patients in a home-like setting. July 7
• The Wisconsin Farm Service Agency, Sauk County office, will host an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. July 7 at its office in Baraboo. The Sauk County office staff will share information with the local community on FSA's County Committee Election process. The theme of this year's election is "FSA Counts on You: Nominate and Vote." • Theater Bus of Madison offers a chance for residents 55 years old or older to travel on a bus to area events. The next trip is to see the musical, "Wedding Singer" on July 8 at the Timber Lake Playhouse in Mt. Carrol, Ill. and have lunch. The cost is $62.
