"Just in general, the economy has been tough on everyone," said Adam Nonn, the flooring company’s regional manager. "That’s a factor. We’re shutting down that location, but all the employees are still going to be maintained."

Adam said the three employees from its Prairie du Sac operation are working at the family business’ Madison and Middleton locations.

Adam said Nonn’s Flooring was started by his father, Kenneth Nonn, 25 years ago when it opened in Middleton.

A little more than ten years ago the company opened in Sauk City.

"We actually used to have a location right in downtown Sauk City," Nonn said.

Around 1998, Adam said the business moved to its Prairie du Sac location at 1800 Prairie Street.

Adam, who grew up in Sauk Prairie and graduated from the Sauk Prairie High School, said Nonn’s strong ties to the community will remain, even if the store is gone.

"My whole family is from Sauk and still lives there," Adam said. "I’m actually the only one who doesn’t."

He said he lives in Madison now.

"We’d really like to thank the community," he said. "Gosh, I went to school there and my whole family is from there so we’re all active community members of Sauk.
