Unity Health Insurance again has been named in the top 50 commercial health insurance plans, according to a report to be released by U.S. News & World Report in December.
The magazine ranked the Sauk City-based provider No. 44 out of 730 commercial health insurance plans based on the satisfaction of members with their overall experience and the plan’s success in treating and preventing illness.
“We are honored to once again be named one of the nation’s top 50 health insurance plans,” Terry Bolz, president and CEO of Unity Health Insurance, stated in a press release. “Our commitment to member satisfaction and quality of care is shown through receiving this ranking for the past five years.”
Unity Health Insurance Senior Marketing Coordinator Lindsay Mayer said the plan was ranked No. 24 in 2008 and has remained in the top 50 since 2004.
“We just have a lot of initiatives with our parent company UW-Health,”she said.
Mayer also pointed to the plan’s 95.5 percent member satisfaction so far this year as a major factor in the ranking.
“A lot of that comes from paying claims on time and answering the phones when people call in,” she said. “That all factors into satisfaction.”
Unity Health Insurance medical director Dr. Mary Pak stated the organization works to develop new initiatives and works to maintain those that succeed.
“We continuously work with our providers and members to improve overall health and well-being through new prevention and treatment initiatives,” she said. “The results of this ranking demonstrate our ability to maintain the initiatives we have developed.”
According to the report, which is available at www.health.usnews.com/sections/health/health-plans, Unity ranked highest in satisfaction with services, cancer screening and heart disease screening.
Other highly ranked plans in the region included Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin, ranked No. 10; Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, No. 37; Network Health Plan, No. 48; Dean Health Plan, No. 49 and Medical Associates Health Plans, No. 52.
