Weather looks great for holiday events in Sauk Prairie this weekend

Thanksgiving weekend is shaping up to be bright and sunny with temperatures forecast to be in the mid to upper 40s, perfect for the numerous holiday events scheduled in Sauk Prairie.

But temperatures may drop throughout next week with next Friday's high temperature expected to be the season's first below freezing.

After a fortecast high of 41 Friday under sunny skies, the overnight low should fall to 28 with light winds from the southeast.

Saturday the temperature may tip 50 degrees as winds shift to the southwest.

Expect cooler temperatures and more cloud cover on Sunday and Monday with a high both days of 40 and an overnight low of 27.

Community events

Friday, Saturday and Sunday

- Dorf Haus in Roxbury opens its doors for an Irish comedy dinner show, “Flanagan’s Wake,” on Nov. 20 to 23 and Nov. 27 to 29. The cost is $36. Flanagan’s Wake is interactive show were villagers of the fictional Grapplin, County Sligo and Ireland tell tales, sing songs and mourn the passing of Flanagan in true Irish wake fashion. The audience is encouraged to get involved. Guests can chose from Guinness Beef Stew, rouladen, stuffed pork chops or baked haddock. Dates and times are Nov. 27 with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and show at 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 28 with dinner at 6 p.m. and show at 7 p.m. and Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. and show at 2 p.m. To make reservations, call 643-3980 or visit www.foodspot.com/dorfhaus.

Saturday

- Tony “Doc” Thompson cancer benefit gathering is at noon Nov. 28 at the Merrimac Conservation Club, one half-mile west of Merrimac on Highway 78. The New Crew Band and Steve O-DJ will entertain party goers. The cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple. To donate to Thompson’s cause send checks to M&I Bank, 615 Water St. in Sauk City.

- Santa will visit the Walgreen’s in Sauk City from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 28. Children can have a photo taken with Santa for $5. Walgreen’s is also accepting non-perishable food items for the Sauk Prairie Food Pantry. If donating Santa visitors will receive a discount on their Santa and family picture offer.

- Sauk Prairie Harley Davidson in Sauk City will host its holiday open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 28. Refreshments and door prizes are available.

 - Bonham Theater in Prairie du Sac will offer a free showing of the movie “Elf” at 11 a.m. Nov. 28 at the theater. Free popcorn also is available.

- Ace Hardware will offer free popcorn, gift wrap and lay-a-ways from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 28 at the store in Sauk City. This event will also continue on Dec. 5, 12 and 19.

- A Vintage Christmas will take place at Wollersheim WInery in Prairie du Sac from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a winery tour, wine tasting and caroling.

All month

- Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society presents the Wollersheim Winery exhibit during the month of November at the Tripp Memorial Museum in Prairie du Sac. The museum is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This month and next
