Thomas J. Bauer, 74, formerly of Sauk City and Chicago, and recently of Los Angeles and San Francisco, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008.

Mr. Bauer was born on Oct. 30, 1933, to Armand and Audrey (Vanden Brook) Bauer. He earned his degree in architecture/engineering at Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. He was proud of his service as first lieutenant in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany. After the service he began his career, specializing in the design of hospitals, working in both Chicago and Los Angeles.

Mr. Bauer is survived by his brothers, James (Carol) Bauer, Jack (Jane) Bauer and his sisters, Jean Bauer and Judy (Dennis) Holtz, as well as by many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 1 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. Interment will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Sauk City. Friends may call at the church, one hour prior to Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the best memorial to him would be to vote for Barak Obama for president and memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
