Bernard H. "Ben" Maier, 84, of Dane - October 1, 2008

Bernard H. "Ben" Maier, 84, of Dane, died on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Maier was born in Springfield Township on July 31, 1924, the son of the late Wolfgang and Margaret (Wipperfurth) Maier. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Koellen on Nov. 15, 1952 at St. Raphael's Cathedral in Madison.

Mr. Maier was a lifelong farmer in the Roxbury/Dane area. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, card-playing, farming, hershey kisses and oreo cookies. He was a long-time member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury.

Mr. Maier is survived by his wife, Eleanor; two children, Terry (Rich) Haag and Tim Maier; six grandchildren, Kris (Jamie) Maier, Christine (Josh) King, Tonya Maier, Rachel Haag, Zach Maier and Jacob Haag; two great-grandchildren, Colin and Aidan Maier; five siblings, Bertha Spahn, Francis Dyer, Joe (Ruth) Maier, Mary Barman and Sister Lenora Maier; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Schrenk and two brothers, Herman and Aloysius Maier.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 25 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury. Burial was in St. Norbert's Cemetery.
