Bernadine Elizabeth (Koehl) Feiner, 91, of Sauk City/Plain
Bernadine Elizabeth (Koehl) Feiner, 91, of Sauk City/Plain, died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009.
Mrs. Feiner was born on July 1, 1918 in Mendon, Mo., to Anna and Francis Koehl. At the age of 18, she moved to Wisconsin and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, where she met the love of her life, Lawrence Feiner. They were united in marriage on Oct. 14, 1944.
She and her husband had a family of nine children, developed a beautiful farm in the Black Hawk area, and were members of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. They farmed until Larry’s death in 1971.
In 1977 she moved with her family to Sauk City and became a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Sodality. She loved to attend church, sew, garden, cook, read and write poetry, watch the birds in her yard, and especially enjoyed creating a warm loving home. She was a beautiful person who devoted her life to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Feiner is survived by seven daughters and two sons, Patricia Alt, of Prairie du Sac, Beverly (Jack) Walsh, of Sauk City, Gerald Feiner, of Sauk City, Mary Feiner, of Madison, Eugene (Jan) Feiner, of Bluffton, S.C., Lois Feiner (Mike Berchem), of Verona, Deborah Feiner (Dave Alber), of Cottage Grove, Jacqueline (Mike) Schwartz, of West Bend and Tammie Feiner-Mueller (Bernard), of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Puccio, Shawn (Angela) Alt, Renee (James) Turner, Jody (Dale) Ballweg, Denise (Dale) Breunig, Daniel and Thomas Feiner; Gregory, Jacqueline and Victoria Alber; Joshua and Samantha Schwartz; Ingrid and Alaric Mueller; six great-grandchildren, Daniella and Jack Puccio, Brayden and Hudson Turner, Jayden and McKayla Ballweg; three sisters, Mercedes Gladbach, Loretta (Ray) Feiner and Monica Maag; two brothers, Francis (Marion) Koehl and Gene (Margaret) Koehl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Gladbach and Merlin Maag.
A Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 5 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain with Fr. Michael Resop officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, after 9:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
