Volleyball team opens season with four wins

By Dan Larson, Sauk Prairie Eagle

The Sauk Prairie girls' volleyball team didn't win the Whitewater Tournament on Aug. 26.

But it did win the "Gold B" bracket.

The Eagles went 2-1-1 in pool play — losing only to Madison Memorial, which advanced to the tournament championship game — before beating Walworth Big Foot and Brodhead to earn the consolation championship in their first action of the season at the Williams Center on the UW-Whitewater campus.

Ashley Wipperfurth had 12 kills in Sauk Prairie's 27-25, 20-25, 15-4 win over Walworth Big Foot and Lacey Puls came up with 12 digs in the Eagle's 25-11, 25-22 consolation championship win over Brodhead.

Results from the Eagles match with Portage Sept. 2 were not available in time for this edition.
