Elaine Gerry turned in an award-winning season as a senior on the Sauk Prairie girls' soccer team in the spring.
Now, she might be on her way to adding some NCAA Division III hardware to the trophy collection.
As of NCAA Division III statistics compiled through Sept. 28, The freshman on the Edgewood College womens' soccer team — who was a unanimous first-team, all-Northern Badger Conference selection and an honorable mention all-state selection according to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association in her final season as an Eagle — leads the nation in goals scored with 20.
Gerry scored three goals in a 4-1 win over Lakeland College on Oct. 1 and five goals in a 9-0 win over Rockford College on Oct. 4 to up her season total to 28 goals. As of this edition, the NCAA had not yet updated its online statistics database.
The single-season Edgewood record is 34 goals, set by Julie Veloff in 1998.
